What is it?
Kitesurfing or Kiteboarding is a mixture of sports such as, wakeboarding, windsurfing, surfing and parascending. There is no feeling quite like skimming silently across the water, then firing into a huge jump before floating effortlessly down and riding away…
Can I do it though?
The answer is a resounding yes. Kitesurfing doesn’t require massive upper body strength or the grace of a ballerina, we’ve taught kids as young as 6, and big fellas pushing those pounds! The main requirements are a real ‘go for it’ attitude and being confident in the water.
How safe is it?
Ok kitesurfing is often seen as an extreme sport, and at the top level of competiton this holds true. For most kiters however, the main aim is to just cruise up and down the wind, and launch yourself into big jumps. And in this case, so long as you have been taught the correct techniques and have a healthy respect for the kite, it really isn’t that dangerous at all. Now is the best time to learn as the equipment is the safest its ever been!
